Barber’s work takes readers in two dramatically different directions—but both stories ultimately ask readers to consider the consequences of the choices humanity makes today.
A 4,300-YEAR JOURNEY INTO THE FUTURE
In The Infinite Quest: The Sixth Sun, Barber looks thousands of years into humanity’s future, exploring what could happen over the next 4,300 years.
At the heart of the story is a provocative question:
If all collective memories of history disappeared, would humanity repeat the same mistakes?
The Sixth Sun combines an expansive vision of Earth’s future with questions about civilization, memory, human behavior, and whether humanity can truly progress without remembering where it has been.
WHEN “SAVING AMERICA” COMES AT A PRICE
Barber’s second project, The Forsaken Awaken Series, enters the world of political fiction with its first installment, Deferment.
The story follows a fictional U.S. president during his first four years in office. Initially presenting himself as the leader who will “save America,” the president gradually moves the country toward dictatorship.
Rather than simply telling a political story, Barber uses the novel to explore a larger question:
How does a free society recognize the moment when protecting the nation begins to become an excuse for taking away its freedom?
Deferment examines power, persuasion, political ambition, and the gradual erosion of democratic ideals through the lens of fiction.
