A brand new and original wrestling horror graphic novel inspired by the worlds of Lucha libre, independent wrestling, and classic ’80s action and horror films.

We absolutely love classic horror, as well as the storytelling side of wrestling from the indies to the big leagues, so Mad Dog Morgan is essentially our love letter to those forms of entertainment.”
— Adam Lawson, creator of Mad Dog Morgan

LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, August 6, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — This summer, The Lab Press hits you with the ultimate suplex! After a successful Kickstarter campaign earlier in the year, award-winning independent graphic novel publisher The Lab Press brings the original wrestling horror graphic novel Mad Dog Morgan to comic shops, bookstores, and online retailers in a deluxe hardcover edition available in book and comic stores from August 4.

Created by Adam Lawson (The Exiled with Wesley Snipes, The Kill Journal) and co-written with Brian Christgau (Six-Gun Gorilla: Long Days of Vengeance, The Kill Journal: Finch), Mad Dog Morgan features gorgeous art by rising star Maxi Dall’O (Heavy Metal, Lost Fantasy), vibrant colors by Patricio Delpeche, and powerful letters by Dave Lentz.

Blending supernatural horror, professional wrestling, haunted house suspense, and psychological terror, Mad Dog Morgan combines the emotional grit of The Wrestler with the supernatural dread of The Shining and House on Haunted Hill.

The original graphic novel follows independent professional wrestler Mitchell “Mad Dog” Morgan, whose dreams of making it to wrestling’s biggest arenas have faded into disappointment. Dismissed as “just another jabroni,” Morgan drowns his failures in alcohol before wandering into a mysterious crumbling house that is far more than it appears. Inside waits an ancient supernatural evil that feeds on despair, forcing Morgan into the fight of his life against a terrifying force that has claimed countless victims before him. As the house attempts to break him, he discovers that every setback, every defeat, and every ounce of pain has prepared him for one final battle. He wasn’t destined to become a wrestling legend—he was destined to confront an ancient horror. Bloodied, brutalized, and on the brink, this washed-up jabroni must become the main event—or die trying.

“Brian and I absolutely love classic horror, as well as the storytelling side of wrestling from the indies to the big leagues, so Mad Dog Morgan is essentially our love letter to those forms of entertainment,” says co-creator and co-writer, Adam Lawson. “We’ve seen these worlds cross over before with films like John Carpenter’s classic, They Live, starring the late great “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, but we wanted to create something which could exist today while capturing that timeless sensibility.”

The result is an action-packed horror thrill ride spanning more than 180 pages, produced to the premium design and production standards that have become synonymous with The Lab Press’ award-winning original graphic novels. Designers John J. Hill and Emma Price have created a distinct visual identity for the publishing line, earning widespread industry recognition, including three honors at this year’s prestigious IBPA + PubWest Book Design Awards.

“Adam and the team had a clear vision for Mad Dog Morgan, which made it (and them) a good match for what we’re doing at The Lab Press,” adds The Lab’s editor-in-chief, Dagen Walker. “They already had an engaged fanbase, who were keen to see the project brought to life, so it was our pleasure to help them realize that in our own unique way and then bring it to a wider audience. Aside from presenting a thrilling and unsettling horror story, Mad Dog makes you question the nature of pain and torment, as well as the way in which our destinies unfold.”

Mad Dog Morgan will arrive first in comic shops on July 29, before it debuts in book stores and online from August 4. The hardcover premium graphic novel features a main cover by interior artist Maxi Dall’O and will also be available with a special Limited Edition cover featuring art by J.D. Knight.

Readers can order Mad Dog Morgan through their local comic shop, independent bookstore, major booksellers, and online retailers.
