Creatures & Corridors is Stranger Things meets Jumanji by way of the Satanic Panic of the 1980s and ’90s.
LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, March 5, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — After his recent feature-length directorial debut, Sleepwalker – starring Hayden Panettiere, Justin Chatwin and Beverly D’Angelo – writer and producer Brandon Auman, best known for his time as showrunner on Critical Role’s Legends of Vox Machina series, is bringing his love of fantasy and horror to The LAB Press with an original graphic novel, Creatures & Corridors, which is now available through comic shops and online retailers worldwide.
It’s the summer of 1992, and five high school students have come together to play Creatures & Corridors, a rare role-playing game that was banned years earlier for being “too Satanic”. As the kids delve into this forbidden fantasy game, they unwittingly unleash a curse that warps all reality around them. Upstairs, orcs storm the living room and kill their parents; while their front yard turns into a moat filled with tentacled horrors; and their basement “game cave” transforms into a literal dungeon, complete with bloodthirsty monsters and terrifying death traps. Now, the kids are forced to play Creatures & Corridors for their very lives, as a devilish Gamemaster judges their every move.
“Creatures & Corridors brings together all the things I love, and all the worlds I’ve been working in thus far, to create something that is both a loving homage and an all-new spin on what happens when games go wrong,” explains writer and creator, Brandon Auman. “For those of us who remember the Satanic Panic of the 1980s and ‘90s, there was an undeniable allure to these things we were meant to avoid, and this is the ultimate exploration of those imagined dangers.”
Brandon Auman is a Saturn Award-winning, four-time Emmy-nominated writer, director, showrunner and producer. His latest film, Sleepwalker, which was based on his short film of the same name, came out on January 9, 2026. Prior to that, he was known as the lead writer and showrunner of Critical Role: The Legend of Vox Machina, an adult animated series for Amazon Prime, as well as being a head writer and executive producer at both Lucasfilm and Marvel Studios. Brandon is also an illustrator and painter, and a collector of old books, vintage toys and artwork. He is already writing his next novel, a fantasy/horror epic.
Andrea Mutti is a comic book artist who started his career illustrating superhero comics in his native country, Italy. After obtaining his degree in geometry, Andrea attended the Comics School in Brescia, led by Ruben Sosa. He began his career illustrating the superhero comic DNAction for Xenia Edizioni. He has since worked on a wide range of detective titles for various French publishers. He has also worked with Marvel, DC, Vertigo, Dark Horse, Top Cow, IDW, BOOM! Studios, Adaptive, Dynamite, Stela, Titan, and Vault. Andrea is joined on Creatures & Corridors by veteran letterer Jared K. Fletcher and The LAB Press Editor-in-Chief, Dagen Walker.
“At The LAB, we’re always looking to spotlight great stories and invite readers into human moments in unhinged world,” says Editor-in-Chief, Dagen Walker. “The world Brandon built grabbed us right away — not just the scope of it, but the care in the details and the look and feel. Roleplaying and tabletop games are having a real resurgence now, which is amazing to see. But for some of us, that stuff lived a little more in the shadows growing up. In my own house, D&D was actually banned during the ‘Satanic Panic,’ so there’s something especially satisfying about revisiting those ideas now — openly, creatively, and without apology. It feels like reclaiming something. We think readers will connect with the themes, but also with the fully lived-in world Brandon, Andrea, and the team have created.”
Creatures & Corridors is now available in comic shops and from online retailers in two editions – the Premiere hardcover featuring cover art by Bill Sienkiewicz which retails at $49.99, and the Limited Edition hardcover featuring cover art by Gene Ha which retails at $74.99. For those who don’t have a local comic shop or preferred online retailer, the book can also be found on Amazon and Amazon UK.
