HUDSON VALLEY, NY, UNITED STATES, April 1, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Big Bloom Ka-BOOM!, a new children’s picture book by Barry Waldo, is now available worldwide on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other major retailers. This funny gardening picture book for kids ages 3–8 combines humor, teamwork, and nature in a fast-paced story that shows young readers that growing is better when we do it together.

In this lively garden adventure, the Awesome Blossoms and the Sprout Scouts face off in Grubby Grove’s biggest garden growing contest. But when two troublemaking cats hatch a sneaky plan—and a tail-wagging dog sounds the alarm—the competition quickly spirals into a chaotic, unforgettable day where gardens grow wild and nothing goes as planned.

Designed as a laugh-out-loud read-aloud reading experience, Big Bloom Ka-BOOM! is filled with playful sound effects, vibrant garden themes, and engaging storytelling that make it a standout among children’s picture books, especially for families who enjoy popular children’s books that combine humor with meaningful life lessons. The story highlights key themes such as friendship, teamwork, resilience, and the joy of working together—making it an ideal children’s book about gardening and cooperation.

“Big Bloom KaBOOM is a beautiful and engaging book. Right from the start my students see that gardens can be as individual as people and that gardeners often have different garden goals,” said Lori Hamor, 1st Grade Teacher, Ojai Unified School District and Board President, Food for Thought Ojai. “Everyone can be a gardener, from the confident Messy McFarlen to the young novice Little Lily, ALL growers are celebrated. The characters’ garden visions are unique and yet, the threats to their gardens are often the same. There are so many opportunities to reinforce social-emotional learning concepts such as teamwork, problem-solving, and resilience throughout this book. Leave time for discussion after reading! It’s a fun and meaningful addition to any early elementary classroom.”

Big Bloom Ka-BOOM! is the second book in The Dirt Diggers Club series, following Messy McFarlen’s Tomato Garden. The series encourages curiosity about nature, outdoor play, and growing food, while delivering entertaining, character-driven stories that resonate with both children and adults.

Author Barry Waldo, a former global executive at the Walt Disney Company and Mattel, brings his storytelling expertise and sense of humor to his sixth picture book. Known for creating engaging children’s content that blends fun with meaningful life lessons, Waldo continues to build a growing library of books that support early childhood learning and family connection.

Parents, educators, and gift buyers searching for children’s picture books, a kid’s book about gardening or a funny picture book about friendship, teamwork, and nature will find Big Bloom Ka-BOOM! a perfect addition to their bookshelf.
