Author of The Spanish Swan Ballet shares an uplifting story of inclusion
LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, April 1, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books returns to the University of Southern California campus on April 18–19, 2026, continuing its legacy as one of the nation’s most celebrated literary gatherings. Guided by this year’s theme, “Many stories. One weekend.”, the festival honors diversity in literature and welcomes voices from every background, culture, and artistic tradition.
As one of the official exhibitors at the 2026 festival, MainSpring Books will participate in this vibrant celebration of storytelling. Among the featured participants at Booth #967 is Lorena Gomez-Maese, a VIP author, who will appear for a special book signing and professionally recorded interview.
A native Californian born and raised in San Pedro, Lorena Gomez-Maese is a lifelong artist whose family has lived in the community for six generations. She began dancing at the age of four and went on to perform with two professional dance companies before dedicating decades to teaching, directing, choreographing, and producing theater across Southern California. With a deep-rooted passion for tradition, culture, and the performing arts, she created The Spanish Swan Ballet to inspire children and families to reconnect with faith, imagination, and movement.
The Spanish Swan Ballet tells the short inspirational story of a young girl with a disability who dreams of becoming crowned “The Spanish Swan.” Guided by La Maestra, who teaches her that anyone can dance regardless of ability, the young girl learns that faith, perseverance, and heart can transform dreams into reality. Inspired by her original ballet production, the book extends Gomez-Maese’s vision of inclusion, faith, and artistic expression to young readers.
Through this project, Gomez-Maese celebrates resilience, cultural heritage, and the belief that artistic expression belongs to everyone. Her work reflects a lifelong commitment to uplifting the next generation through tradition, music, theater, and movement.
Festival attendees are invited to visit Booth #967 to meet Lorena Gomez-Maese and receive a signed copy of The Spanish Swan Ballet.
