GARDEN CITY, NY, UNITED STATES, March 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Adelphi University’s third annual Writers & Readers Festival, founded by alumna and novelist Alice Hoffman, will feature New York Times bestselling authors Susan Lucci and Jodi Picoult as the keynotes. The festival, which will kick off on Wednesday evening, April 15, will take place on Thursday and Friday, April 16–17 at Adelphi’s Garden City campus, and is free to students and open to the public.

A Premier Long Island Literary Festival: 3 Days of Workshops & Keynotes with 25+ Celebrated Authors

The Writers & Readers Festival brings together students, teachers, librarians, emerging writers and the local community for an immersive celebration of storytelling—both the craft of writing and the realities of publishing. Attendees will connect with fellow book lovers and hear from prominent authors, including Hoffman, who will share stories from her new anthology, “The Best Dog in the World: Essays on Love.” Hoffman’s forthcoming novel, “Witches of Cambridge,” will be published this August (and is now in development at Hulu for a television series), followed by the much-anticipated film Practical Magic 2, with Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman returning as the Owens sisters in September. In addition, a Broadway adaptation of Practical Magic is currently in development, featuring music by Grammy Award winner Norah Jones and Gregg Wattenberg.

Notable participants include Susan Lucci, star of daytime television’s “All My Children,” in keynote conversation with bestselling author and podcaster Adriana Trigiani about her new memoir, “La Lucci,” Jodi Picoult who will be in keynote conversation with Alice Hoffman about storytelling in a time of book banning, musical director Tim Weil, who will talk about his new book, “Making Rent: The Story Behind the Music That Changed Broadway. ” Authors and publishing professionals at the festival include: Patrik Henry Bass, Robin Boyle-Laisure, Roohi Choudhry, Fiona Davis, Marcos Gonsalez, Luis Jaramillo, Julie Klam, Jessica Knoll, Ann Leary, Emily Lee Luan, Ed Mabrey, Elizabeth Mitchell, Courtney Paganelli, Ed Park, Alyson Richman, Michael Rossi, Marysue Rucci, Puja Shah, Joan Silber, Darcey Steinke, Jennifer Tepper, Catherine Tung, and Laura Zigman.

The festival will feature panel discussions and conversations with bestselling authors and book editors, literary agents, and Adelphi faculty, including those from the MFA in Creative Writing program.

Long Island High School Poetry Contest – Winner Announced at Festival

New this year, Adelphi will be taking submissions from students in grades 9-12 for the inaugural High School Poetry Contest. The winner, who will be announced at a special reception will receive ten books of their choice, selected from the festival offerings, and be invited to read their poetry.
